I am excited at winning a difficult match, Eguma says
Stanley Eguma, the Head Coach of Rivers United Football Club of Port Harcourt, on Sunday said it was a big excitement for him as his team won a difficult match.
Eguma said he was excited after his team beat visiting Kano Pillars FC 1-0 in Port Harcourt because he earlier knew the game would be a difficult one.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the match played at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium was a 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 12 fixture.
“I am happy that my players won. It was a difficult match and I knew it because Kano Pillars are a good team.
“But my players did not panic. They were very patient and built up gradually till they got the goal in the 79th minute of the game,” Eguma said.
The former coach of the defunct Dolphins FC said they would continue to work harder to ensure that their mistakes were corrected before their next match against Plateau United.
“We are going to work hard during our training within the week, see where we made mistakes and correct them to get a good result against Plateau United FC in Jos next Sunday,” he said.
Substitute Bernard Ogoke, who scored the lone goal in the 79th minute for Rivers United, on his part told NAN there was no complaint against his starting from the bench.
NAN reports that Baba Ganaru, the Head Coach of Kano Pillars, refused to talk to any journalist as he left the pitch angrily after the game.
