Music for you, how did it all started?

For me, music started at a very tender age as my love for musical instruments cannot be explained, I find myself knowing how to sing so early and playing some instruments like the mouth organ, drums amongst others. Also I could also remember vividly while growing up, my other siblings will drum and I do the singing at home, day after day we kept improving until I discovered that I am better singer. However the journey has not been a bed rose but I thank God am coping now because I remember when I arrived Lagos for the first time, it took me time to balance up but now we are here.

Talking about playing the mouth organ, are you trying to be like D’banj?

(Laugh) well, I am not trying to but in honest, the mouth organ is just something I can play but it’s not really my thing because I only play it at my leisure time. One of the best instrument I love is the drum set; there is this inner joy in me whenever am beating the drums.

Has there ever been a time when your parents didn’t support your music career?

Yes! Many times! My parents never supported my music, all they wanted was for me to focus on my education and graduate. I didn’t let it weigh me down but right now, I think they are okay with what I have set out to do and all they do now is that they give me their support 100% and also advise me on how to be distinctive in whatever I do.

Is it because money is coming in now that’s the reason for their support?

Well, not necessarily because of the money but they just like it now. Since I am almost done with my education. They now support my career since it is my passion.

What are you studying presently?

I am currently a final year student of computer science at Houdegbe North American University, Benin Republic.

With you focusing more on music; does that mean you won’t be practicing your course after graduation?

Well for me, I have always wanted to be self-employed and that’s why music is the gate way for me. But as for the certificate, I guess I did that for my parents who insisted on that. Right now all that matters to me is the music which I have strong passion for.

So how that does music correlate to computer science for you?

Like I said earlier, music is something I have a stronger passion for and the fact that I study computer science makes it a whole lot better for me because my course of study deals with the usage of gadgets and computer machines. And we all know that the production of music is equally carried out on the system; so in all both my passion for music and course of study works hand in glove.

Do you think the industry is actually ready for you?

Definitely, with my style of music and the reception I have received so far, I am sure that the industry is highly prepared for me and waiting patiently to see what I have in stock. My style of music is RNB, Hip Hop and a little dash of party Jamz.

You started music 7years ago, what have you been up to before now?

Officially, I started my music career in 2010 and ever since then, I have been putting in more music and doing a lot of work with my team. I have released some couple of works too which gained massive media attention.

Talking about collaborations, which top musicians would you love to work with?

First Nigeria is blessed with a whole lots of talents and with this, most of time are people we all look up to in the industry for their great achievement and contributions to the music industry at large. I really would love to work with a whole lot of them that includes, Wizkid, Davido and Yemi Alade.

I was in the studio and my producer dropped a beat. So I was like, let me lay a hook on this. I was able to just do it. In the beginning, it was somehow but we eventually came out with something nice.

Unlike other musician who render the services of others to write their song; do you write your song?

From the first day I started releasing my songs, I write all my lyrics myself and most time when am done with the songs, all I do is to show it to my management.

In your profile, you stated that you would want to be known for RnB songs. Do you think you can build a brand for yourself with that at this point knowing that breaking into the music industry via RNB seems difficult?

Sure! RnB may seem difficult but music is a talent. Once you know how to do something, it is no problem. I have a lot of RnB songs. The fact that other musicians who does RNB songs are successful, then nothing stops me from becoming one too.

A lot of artists tend to let fame take control when they “Blow”. How do you intend to manage fame when it comes?

Well, am doing music for the fact that it is what I want to do. I don’t allow money or fame control me in terms of doing my thing. Everyone knows how to handle themselves. Some are into it for the money and fame, but I am into it because it is something I have passion for.

Why the name “Eda Boy”?

Eda Boy is just an abbreviation of my names. Like I said, my name is Emmanuel. The D there is supposed to be my brother’s but he let go of music. His name his David. The A stands for Akong, our surname.

What makes good music is the rhythm, beat and most importantly the lyrics.

Are you in a relationship?

Not at all. I don’t have a girlfriend.

What are those qualities you look out for in a woman?

Well, beauty doesn’t really matter to me. It’s the mind. She should just be a very good lady. Someone that can take care of me and look out for my kids.
