Group accuses EFCC of in-house corruption

The Joint Action Coalition of Civil Societies in Nigeria (JACCSN) has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of in-house corruption capable of rubbishing the entire anti-graft war championed by the commission.
The National Coordinator of JACCSN, Comrade Isaac Ikpa in a press conference yesterday in Abuja pointed out the involvement of some officers of Habibu Aliyu and Isa Dongonyaro who are officials of EFCC are the conduit pipe for the immediate past chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Lamorde, who was facing Nigerian Senate probe over the diversion of one trillion Naira seized from suspects before his sack.
Recall that Habibu Aliyu has being the EFCC Desk Officer in charge of Pension fund since 2010 till date. Under Aliyu’s watch as the EFCC prosecutor, John Yusuf who was accused of stealing N32 billion was granted bail for N250,000 and houses and cash recovered from pension suspects like Essai Dangabar, Atiku Abubakar Kigo, Ahmed Wada, John Yusuf and Mrs Zira in 2012 up till now has not be accounted for.
Ikpa emphasised that the Chairman of EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, should ask Habibu Aliyu and his company to account for these properties and cash seized from the suspects in 2012.
Ikpa said the former owners of these properties are very much ready to identify the seized properties if the properties are under declared.
He added that, under the leadership of President Mohammadu Buhari, who has dared the oil subsidy cabal by removing oil subsidy in Nigeria, Magu should also dare Habibu Aliyu who has been accused of being part of the corruption in Pension Transitional Arrangement Directoriate (PTAD) by introducing uncompromising officer to handle the trial of Ms Nellie Mayshak who was diverting N50 million on monthly bases before her sack.
“Habibu who oversees PTAD since 2010 could not discover any fraud untill the pensioners had to pettition to the Presidency, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), EFCC etc.
“We hereby call on Magu to immediately investigate Habibu and his company to rid the anti graph agency of curruption before Nigerians began to doubt the anti corruption war championed by the EFCC,” Ikpa said.
