Gov’ship poll: Ihedioha dedicates victory to Imo people
…Warns banks to shun new transactions with state govt

The Imo State governor elect, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, has dedicated his victory to the people of state, saying that the mandate bestowed on him was sacred and promised to uphold the trust.
Ihedioha, who ran the election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and was declared winner last Tuesday, said that his victory belongs to the ordinary people in the state including traders, artisans, labourers, farmers, youths and well as women.
He said that his victory was a fervent protest against impunity and the celebrations which greeted his victory in all the hooks and crannies of state was clear testimony of a new dawn.
He said: “It was resounding victory for the good people of our state. I thank all those who contributed in one way or the other through prayers, voluntary services and hard work of staying in the queue and voting.
“Though, you have collectively given us your mandate, this victory belongs to all of you who not only bought into our vision of a great renaissance but also toiled endlessly to ensure that the dream for our dear state is realised”.
The governor-elect warned that the era of brazenness in the state has gone, saying that his government would observe due process as a hallmark to the administration.
According to him, those in position of authority must render account of their stewardship to the people.
“Our priority will be the reclaiming the dignity of our people. We shall no longer be the laughing stock to Nigeria as only positive, productive and progressive stories will be told of the new Imo, Imo has always been known for the right things with a huge reservoir of human capital waiting to be exploited for the great leap forward,” he added.
He therefore warned those in the out-going government that may be tempted to embark on illegal transactions which may result further in burdening in the state with unsustainable liabilities to desist from such move.
The Imo State Governor-elect also advised financial institutions to stop new transactions with the state government or do so, at their own peril.
Ihedioha said new transactions would increase chances of illegal activities and jeopardise the financial stability of the state.
He said his duty and responsibility would be to ensure that citizens and residents of the state remained united and work together for the common good of the state.
