Gov Akeredolu donates N25m relief materials to victims of Ajapa army/ militant clash

The Ondo state governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, has donated relief materials to victims whose properties were destroyed during a heavy clash between wanted militants and soldiers in the agrarian community of Ajapa in Ese Odo local council area.
Mr. Akeredolu who made the donation at the weekend said the task of ensuring a maximum security in the state should not be the duty of the security agencies.
Governor Akeredolu made the donation of materials worth of N25 million to the victims and asked for their support in ensuring security agencies flush out criminals in the community.
Represented by his deputy, Mr. Agboola Ajayi, he said that the relief materials were donated to effect the hardship the people are passing through since they have been displaced.
The governor had earlier frowned at how some soldiers deployed to the area rendered the poor residents of the community homeless by their actions.
He urged the locals to guard themselves against reoccurrence of another army invasion by reporting suspected activities of criminals to the security agencies in the local council.
The Eginabou of Ajapa, Chief Titus Ekikei thanked the state government for the gesture.
Chief Ekikei said the relief materials will help in assisting his subjects to resume normal social economic live of activity.
A leader in the community, Tonye Ebitibituwa, charged the people particularly parents to nurture their children in order to guide against taking to crime and other antisocial vices.
Relief materials donated by the governor to the people included iron sheets, nails, asbestos, mattresses, bags of rice and garri, and cartoons of vegetable oil, among others.
