Fulani monarch condemns Taraba killings, calls for investigation

The Sarkin Fulani of Lagos state and the chairman of the Association of Fulani Chiefs in the South-West Nigeria, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Bambado, has condemned the recent killings of the Fulanis in Sardauna local government area, in Taraba state.

The monarch, who expressed sadness over the incident, described it as “unfortunate, shocking and unwarranted,” saying, “such dastardly acts are uncalled for in a nation that is trying to forge solid unity and peaceful co-existence.”

Against this backdrop, Bambado therefore called on the federal government to investigate the cause of the unnecessary killings with a view to bringing the perpetrators to justice.

“We should learn to tolerate each other, learn to live together in peace and harmony,” said the monarch, reminding that, “Nigeria belongs to each one of us and we are destined to be together by God.”

He, however, appeal to all and sundry to remain calm over the sad incident, assuring that, “the government would get to the root of the matter and bring the perpetrators of the dastardly acts to book to serve as deterrent to others and forestall future re-occurrence.”
