Friday rues defeat at Tornadoes

Akwa United striker, Friday Ubong has described as bad result the huge thumbing at top-flight newcomers, Niger Tornadoes.
The Promise Keepers lost 0-3 to Tornadoes in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 31 clash on Tuesday at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.
Friday said he is yet to come to term with the stark reality of his side massive blowout at the Minna outfit.
“It is really a bad result one of the worst defeats for us so far in the on-going Nigerian top-flight.
“As I speak with you I’m yet to come up with a plausible answer or explanation for the disturbing defeat.
“We played quite well in the encounter but shockingly we found ourselves conceding some cheeky goals.
“Everybody is not happy with the poor result as we planned to at least claim a point in the match.
“Well we have decided to march ahead with the remaining matches on the calendar and to work towards recovering the points in other matches.
“Actually the huge loss is a setback on our concerted fight to challenge for the available tickets at stake.
“Of course, we cannot be relegated in the on-going season we will work harder to ensure we finish the league campaign respectfully,” saidFriday.
The loss at Niger Tornadoes leaves Akwa United points haul at 40 eight points behind leaders, Enugu Rangers.
