Flood takes over Delta ministries

As the residents of Asaba, the Delta State capital, and its environs are still counting their loss from the devastating rainfall on Sunday, another rainfall, in the early hours of Wednesday, has left many in disarray as households, items and offices were destroyed.

The rain started at about 9:30 a.m. and lasted for hours, forcing people on transit, especially on tricycle to seek for shelter in order to avert danger.

When the Daily Times visited some major roads in Asaba metropolis, like Nnebisi and Okpanam roads, residential housing and business centres were flooded – including ministries.

At Okapanm road, report said the flood carried two tricycle the Eagle Square before the Assembly quarters to a long distance near a popular restaurant.

“I was surprise to discover that my store was covered with water and that the flood was coming through my door”, a victim said.

Another said that a lot of household properties were destroyed by flood, adding that the situation had compelled many residents to relocate.
