Fidson set to reward 200 brilliant kids in 2018 Astymin Brilliance Reward

Determined to invest in Nigeria’s educational system through the recognition and reward for hard work and academic excellence, Fidson Healthcare Plc, is set to commence this year’s edition of its flagship children academic reward programme- Astymin Brilliance Reward (ABR).

Riding on the success of previous editions and its impact on children’s academic development and performance in the last eight years, the foremost indigenous pharmaceutical company, said 200 primary school pupils drawn from private and public primary schools across the country, would be rewarded during the forthcoming event.

The annual programme is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at the Ndubuisi Kanu Park, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.

The Astymin Brilliance Reward, which was inaugurated in 2010, is the brand ’ s biggest and most prestigious event.

The programme is aimed at developing pupils ’ mental and academic performance , while rewarding hard work and academic excellence among primary school pupils , through special acknowledgment and provision of educational materials .

Citing education as the bedrock of national development, the management of Fidson, said it is more inspiring rewarding hard work and academic excellence among primary school pupils as well as those in secondary schools and tertiary institutions.

To this end, the management said the company had extended its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives on academic excellence to secondary schools by giving scholarship award to three best-performing 2017 WAEC candidates who will be receiving a cash prize of N100,000 to N250,000 each at this year’s event.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos on Thursday, General Manager, Fidson Healthcare Plc, Mr Ola Ijimakin, said this year’s edition is an indication of the company’s unrelenting commitment to supporting Nigerian children in all their academic endeavours, through its Astymin brand, in line with the corporate brand promise of adding value to the lives of Nigerians.

He explained, “Like we have always emphasised, the ABR is our attempt to bring back the glory days of our education by throwing our weight behind the children’s drive for academic excellence.

This is another season of delight for the kids who have worked so hard and performed exceptionally well in their academics; but for us as a brand, it is another day of celebrating excellence”.

According to him, this year’s edition of the programme will witness the convergence of the very best graduating pupils from over two hundred private and public schools across the south-west and South-east regions, as well as parents, teachers and stakeholders in the Nigerian educational system

Expressing concern over the dwindling reading culture amongst teenagers and youths in Nigeria, and the untamed passion for fast money, fame and interests in social or political affluence, for which academic excellence has been traded, Ijimakin pointed out that Astymin Brilliance Reward is one of the ways the company is partnering with government and other well-meaning stakeholders to develop the country’s educational system.

Stakeholders in the education sector say one of the reasons students seem to be losing interest in academics is because the society no longer appreciates and rewards academic excellence.

To encourage academic excellence, they suggested that students who do exceptionally well in academics should be highly rewarded.

“We believe it is better to catch them young and put them on the right path to success. Therefore, Astymin will continue to take the giant stride in rewarding brilliant primary school kids in a way that will motivate them to stay focused on their studies, believing that merit and hard work can still be rewarded”, he said.

Also speaking, the Marketing Manager , Mr. Friday Enaholo, said motivating students by celebrating their achievements will lead them to greater success in their endeavours, adding that Fidson is always proud to support Nigerian children in terms of education , health and general well-being .
