FG unfair to Igbo -Ubani

Second Vice-President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Onyekachi Ubani, has decried the lack of federal presence and the infrastructural decay in the Southeast, stating that it smacks of injustice against the Igbo nation.
Ubani, who was the immediate past chairman of the NBA, Ikeja branch, told The Daily Times in an exclusive interview that but for the hard work and dexterity of the Igbo race, the Southeast would have been in a worse condition.
He however, berated the leaders of the region for not doing enough to develop the Southeast and representing only their selfish interests. Lamenting the marginalization of Igbo in appointments by the Buhari government, the NBA vice president urged President Buhari to carry every region along to give everyone a sense of belonging.
However, in his reaction to the continued detention of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, the NBA official charged the federal government to seek a political solution. His words: “I think Nnamdi Kanu’s matter can be resolved politically and not legally. If you go through legal resolution, it will create more problems for the country. And that is where the wisdom of the elders come in.’’
On the call to restructure Nigeria, Ubani said: ‘‘Nigeria needs to run a proper federal system. What we are running is a unitary system. If we say we are running a federal system, let’s run it well. America is
running a proper federal system. If that is not what we are running, then we need to finetune ours. If that is what you mean by restructuring Nigeria, then that is what I mean.’’
