FCTA TO COMPENSATE WOMEN FOR PARTICIPATING IN 2015 GEN. ELECTION-MINISTER
The minister of the federal Capital territory, is putting all
necessary mechanism on ground, to fully compensate Nigerian women for
contributing the larger percentage of 2015 general election that
brought in the present administration of Mohammadu Buhari in office.
The FCT Administration, will archive this through the Abuja Enterprise
Agency (AEA) which is already vigorously training several women in
various skills in the Federal Capital
Territory on palliative measures to alleviate poverty among Nigerian
women most of them are widows and less privileged.
The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello made this revelation while
receiving the National President of the National Council for Women
Societies (NCWS), Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Laraba Shoda paid a working visit.
The Minister said that since the coming of President Muhammadu Buhari, the
FCT Administration has initiated useful skill acquisition schemes through
the Abuja Enterprise Agency where women from all the nooks and crannies of
the Federal Capital Territory have benefited. stressing that his
Administration intends to continue along that line because the women
constitute a large population of the nation.
He disclosed that the FCT Administration has also keyed into the Central
Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Anchor Borrowers’ Programme whereby two crops namely,
rice and soya beans in which the FCT has comparative advantage is being
promoted with women in the forefront.
The Minister remarked that very large population of women turned out to
vote for President Muhammadu Buhari and appreciated the uncommon support
they have been giving to the government.
While promising to foster the interests of women in the Territory, he told
them that his Administration is working to complete all ongoing projects in
the areas of health, education and so on, which have direct bearing on the
common man.
His words: “As soon as the on-going projects within the Federal Capital
City are completed, the focus will shift to the Satellite Towns and the
Area Councils.”
Malam Bello assured that, in addition, his Administration will revitalize
223 Primary Healthcare Centres across the Federal Capital Territory,
to ensure that women and children are well taken care of.
The Minister charged the women to continue to support the government of
President Muhammadu Buhari whilst promising to continue to have a robust
relationship with the NCWS.
Speaking earlier, the National President of the National Council for Women
Societies (NCWS), Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Laraba Shoda noted that the FCT
Minister has brought in strong vigour in the area of sanitation, land
administration, healthcare delivery, security and other positive
developments that have positive impact on the lives women.
The National President commended the Minister for his willingness to
continue to support women in the area of wealth creation thereby improving
their overall well being.
