Edo Gov harps on decentralization of Nigeria security architecture

The current security challenges in Nigeria have prompted Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki to canvass once more for the decentralization of the nation’s security architecture as a means of checking the spate of insecurity in the country.

Eminent personalities including Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, his Deputy Philip Shaibu, and Secretary to the State Government Osarodion Ogie had converged to pay their last respects to a man who was a major player in the Governor’s legal defence team.

Officiating Minister, Adegbemi Adewale of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Diocese of Remo uses the opportunity to call the attention of political leaders to the prevailing security challenges in the country.

Governor Obaseki reiterates the commitment of the Nigeria Governors Forum to tackling the issues headlong.
He points at decentralization of the Nation’s security architecture as one of the ways out.

He says Edo is organizing the local vigilante and training community policemen to be able to effectively tackle crime in the state.
