DPO, youths differ over alleged professional misconduct in Delta

Due to the recent attack and brutality on innocent citizens of Jesse community in Delta State the youths have given the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Agaga Moses, a seven-day ultimatum to do the needful or there will be a massive protest.

Mr. Atoberuru Collins, who disclosed this to Journalists yesterday, lamented the unprofessional misconduct of Jesse DPO. It was gathered that the allegation against the DPO includes massive destruction of property, kidnapping of a four and six year-old children, Wisdom and Wealth, children of Mr. Okpako Agbughor. It was reliably gathered that the DPO forcefully took away the two little children since their father; Mr. Okpako Agbugho who they came to arrest was not at home.

Mr. Okpako Agbugho however expressed displeasure at the manner in which the traditional ruler in Jesse, HRM Otadaferuua Edward Igho, the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom who promised to resolve the issue was handling the matter. “When the king invited us to his palace, he assured us that he will resolve the issue as our royal father who we have high regards for,” but to our greatest surprise, HRM after his advise said that “it is all left for us if we decide to go ahead with the issue, noting that he has given his own fatherly advice,” he added.

The youths in their large number, after a recent community meeting, decided to embark on the protest calling on the attention of the IGP and the Delta State Commissioner of Police to look into the issue. It should be noted that on Sunday May 14, 2017, at above 8:30apm, the Jesse police were said to have invaded the compound one Mr. Atoberuru Collins when they came to effect arrest of a suspect, Mr. Okpako Agbughor, who was reported to the police by his wife in a case of brutality.

It was learnt that, the police on meeting his absence, illegally arrested, destroyed and took away money belonging to the suspect and other tenants in the compound. Meanwhile, the DPO Jesse, SP Agaga Moses has since debunked the allegations, asserting that the police did not brutalize anybody, “we are committed to securing the lives and property all Nigerian citizens.”
