Delta council to spend N4.5bn in 2023 fiscal year

The Chairman of Sapele Local Government Council, Hon Eugene Inoaghan, has presented a proposed budget estimate of N4, 503, 540, 901. 80 Kobo (Four Billion, Five Hundred and three million, five Hundred and forty Thousand, Nine hundred and one naira, Eighty Eight kobo) only, for the activities of the council for the 2023 financial year before the members of the Sapele Legislative Arm.
The budget tagged: “Budget of Enhanced Development”, comprised of N3.8 billion for recurrent expenditure while N680m for capital expenditure.
The chairman said that the budget reflected a marginal increase of 16.6 per cent above that of 2022 budget.
Inoaghan said that the 2023 budget reflected the collective determination of his administration to provide practical and visible solutions to the numerous challenges confronting the local government area.
The chairman pointed out that the budget reflects a marginal increase of 16.6% over that of 2022, stressing that his administration hoped to maintain the zeal of managing the enduring structure of progressive development for Sapele Local Government Council, irrespective of challenges.
He said that would meet the reality of developing a strong financial capacity without relying solely on oil revenues to the local government.
Inoaghan said that the various local government revenue committees had been strengthened to increase the revenue base of the council to compliment funds accruing from the federation account.
He added that the ongoing federal government’s fight against oil theft and black market sales would make some positive impact, saying that if sustained, more capital projects would be executed in the remaining part of 2023 financial year.

Receiving the budget, the Leader of the Sapele Legislative Arm, Rt Hon Churchill Ayomanor, thanked the chairman for the cordial relationship both arms of government enjoyed, adding that the members of the house would do justice to it.
Inoaghan was accompanied in the presentation by Hon. Vincent Ayomanor, the Vice Chairman, Sapele local government Council, Hon. Felix Ayemidejor, Secretary, Sapele Local Government Council and others.
