CRV: INEC urged to create more registration points in Ondo

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ondo State has been called upon to increase the number of registration points across all political wards of the state for the purpose ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR).

The state Attorney General and Justice Commissioner, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN),  who made the call on Thursday, in Akure, the state capital, shortly after visiting some registration points, said creating more registration points would help to reduce the long queues being witnessed during the exercise.

Jegede added that the registration points would also help at ensuring that all eligible people due for registration were be properly captured within the registration period ahead of the governorship poll.

The Daily Times gathered from the INEC in the state that there would be one registration point in all the 203 wards of the state and this has led to long queues in most of the points.

Jegede, however, advised the people not to be discourage by the minor hitches encountered during the registration especially INEC equipment.

“I want to appeal to everybody not to be discouraged with some of the challenges being witnessed with INEC equipment, and problem of power.

“If it is possible, INEC should make provision for back up power to ensure a flawless registration process”.

The Attorney General emphasised that getting registered and armed with their Permanent Voters Card (PVC) is the only weapon to choose a credible candidate of their choice to governor the state.

“We just have to do everything to be part of the registration, specifically those who missed out the last registration exercise because this is the sacrifice we need to make for the future.” he said.
