COVID -19: NYCN commends Buhari, distributes additional 5000 bags of rice

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his proactive effort at curtailing the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

This is as the Council distributed additional 5,000 bags of rice as COVID- 19 palliatives to youths across the country to complement Federal Government’s efforts at bringing succour to Nigerians at this hard period.

The NYCN had about a month ago, in collaboration with the Belema Oil Producing Ltd and Jack – Rich Tien Aid Foubdation distributed 20,000 bags of food items which includes rice, beans, garri, indomie, etc ,as the first phase of the palliatives.

NYCN President, Amb. Sukubo SaraIgbe Sukubo, in Port Harcourt gave out additional 5,000 bags of rice as palliative to youths, while he urged Nigerians to obey all measures put in place to flatten the curve of COVID -19 in Nigeria.

He lamented that “several drastic measures have been taken to reduce the spread of the virus, which in turn have caused untold hardship and negative impact to Nigerians, particularly the youth population.

The NYCN President who also commended the Federal Government, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development and Federal Ministry of Youth and Spirts Development for their support with palliatives said” today we will be giving out 5,000 bags of rice.

This is courtesy of the National President as a step to cushion the negative effect as a result of the COVID -19 pandemic”.

Amb. Sukubo also appealed to Youth ” to adhere strictly to precautionary measures outlined by Government, particularly, regular washing of hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, wearing of face mask and social distancing amongst others.

He continued “at this point, we will like to commend the Federal Government of Nigeria under President Muhammadu Buhari for his proactive and prompt measures taken, since the outbreak of this virus in Nigeria.

“We will also recall with satisfaction the contributions of well spirited Nigerians towards the fight against COVID -19 pandemic.

“Great Youths of Nigeria let us continue to uphold our beloved nation in our prayers, that the Almighty God in His infinite mercy will help us in this fight against COVID -19”.
