Corruption Charge: APC Maintain Silence over calls to sack SGF

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and its officials seem to have refused comment on the calls by the Nigerian Senators calling for the sack and prosecution of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Engr. Babachir Lawal.
Lawal was the APC National Vice Chairman North-East before his appointment as the SGF by President Muhammadu Buhari last year.
Last week, the Senate at its plenary asked the SGF to resign and be prosecuted for alleged misappropriation of funds earmarked for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the Boko Haram devastated North-East.
Every attempt made to get reaction on the position of the party regarding the matter met brick wall.
Some of the party National officers asked to comment refused to talk while several calls and a text messages sent to the APC new National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi who was out of Abuja at the time were neither answered nor replied.
Other National officers met by our correspondent refused to comment saying they were not authorized to speak on the matter.
The major agenda of the APC led federal government is hinged on the fight against corruption.
The Senate, which hinged its position on the report of the Senator Shehu Sani committee on the allegations of misappropriation of IDP funds, said despite the claim by some federal government agencies, “what is on ground as seen by the committee does not justify or reflect the claims”.
The SGF, Babachir Lawal was indicted for awarding a contract to a company where he is allegedly said to be the Director as at September, 2016.
