Coalition condemns imposition of aspirants in Nasarawa

A coalition of political groups in Karu/Gitata constituency of Nasarawa state under the auspices of Karu-Gitata Voice, yesterday condemned the planned imposition of Hon. Hashimu Gurku as candidate in the forthcoming primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing newsmen in Karu Local Government Area yesterday, the spokespersons for the coalition, Hon Theophilius Ego Ndokpa and Alhaji Abdulahi Kunu said “…we strongly condemn the plan by Alh. Tanko Almakura, the executive Governor of Nasarawa state to impose Hon. Hashimu Gurku as House of Assembly candidate in the forthcoming primary election of the APC. This imposition will be highly resisted in the best interest of the APC”.
Attributing the resistance to non performance and incompetence of Hon. Hashimu, the spokespersons maintained “…there is nothing meaningful to reckon with in terms of performance by Hon. Hashimu in his last three years as member of the House of Assembly.
With zero record of Constituency Development Project, abject lack of leadership prowess, litany of court, EFCC and security cases, we have since passed a vote of no confidence on him, and such a character cannot be projected by the ruling party in this new era of change, otherwise the party will suffer a fatal loss at the general polls…”
The Coalition which comprised Karu Municipal Development Association, Daybreak Youth Forum, Karu Elites Club, Concerned Indigenes of Karu/Gitata constituency amongst others vowed to resist and protest the planned imposition more vehemently in the coming days before the APC primaries if the party leadership did not address the situation and provide a level playing ground for all aspirants.
