CAN chairman urges Christians not to panic over election, as Kano REC enlightens members

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Kano, Professor Riskuwa Arabu Shehu, has enlightened Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Kano state chapter, on the procedures of election and urged those who have not collected their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) to do so, saying without the card, nobody would be allowed to vote during the forthcoming elections. This is just as the CAN state chairman in Kano, Rev. Samuel Adeolu Adeyemo called on Christians resident in the state not to panic during and after the forthcoming general elections, saying the election would be violent free. Professor Shehu who made the assertion at the end of 5-day-CAN prayer held at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Kano, said, the ongoing distribution of PVC end on Monday at ward levels, uncollected one would be taken back to INEC state and all INEC offices in all 44 local government areas of the state, for collection and would end on February 8th 2019 His words “for those who were unable to collect their PVC, we take them back to state office and INEC local government offices in all 44 local government areas of the state, those who were unable to collect at ward levels ,can go there to collect theirs from 22nd February and it would end on February 8th” He however disclosed that those with physical challenges as well as the elderly ones would be given preferences during election, as they would not have to join the queue, but would be given preferences to cast their vote at the polling unit. Earlier, Rev. Adeyemo said the 5-day-prayer is organised to seek God’s favour for the forthcoming general election urging Christians resident in the state, not to entertain any fear or apprehension. He called on them not to run, adding that he is confident that the election would be violent free, saying, it would not be good to allow what happened in 2015 general election to re-occurred, as many who ran away before the after election, either lost their lives or property one way or the other. Rev. Adeyemo also urged them not to sell their vote, noting that whoever sell his/her vote, has indirectly sold his/her birth right, which he said would enslave them till end of another election. Furthermore, He urged Christians in the state to be united and always put national interest above all other personal views, stressing that they should not allow selfish politicians to manipulate them.
