Call to boycott Anambra poll retrogressive, anti-Biafra – MASSOB

The Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Biafra Independent Movement (BIM) have condemned the call for the boycott of the forthcoming Anambra governorship election describing it as self-serving and not in the interest of Biafra agitation.
Leader of the movement in Enugu North, Chief James Omeke, while speaking at the end of their zonal meeting said any call for the boycott of Anambra election is retrogressive to the pursuit of Biafra.
“MASSOB-BIM has gone far in the agitation for the actualization of Biafra. Anybody or group of people trying to draw us back by asking our people to boycott Anambra election should be regarded as enemy of Biafra.
“Boycotting Anambra election is retrogressive, self-serving; it is anti-Biafra agitation and punishment to the Igbo race. Biafra agitation is not a personal agenda; the election is part of the process to actualize Biafra. MASSOB-BIM is not and would not support such a selfish call”, he said.
“We call on the good people of Anambra state to come out enmass on November 18 and vote the candidate of their choice,” he said.
He urged members to remain peaceful and supportive to the course being championed by their national leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike.
“MASSOB-BIM is a responsible and non confrontational organization. We are united in the course our leader is championing; we are firm, resolute and united in this course.
Omeke noted that the 18th anniversary celebration of MASSOB formed in 1999 by Chief Ralph Uwazuruike would be celebrated in Anambra State.
“The MASSOB agitation is a product of Chief Uwazuruike, the struggle for the independent state of Biafra has attained 18years, and we are going to celebrate the anniversary on the 13th of September in Anambra state.
“We want to enjoin all members to participate actively in the celebration as well as to remain peaceful”, he said.
