Buhari’ Will Protect Women's Integrity- Wife
The wife of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Candidate, Hajia Aisha Buhari on Tuesday in Abeokuta assured that her husband, Major General Muhammed Buhari, rtd, will protect the integrity of women and violence against women if elected as President in the Saturday presidential polls.
Hajia Buhari who said this during the APC SouthWest Women’s Presidential Rally held at MKO Abiola International Stadium said her husband will do everything possible to fight domestic violence or violence against women in any form emphasising that violence in any form will not be accepted under his regime”.
Her words, “I am here today to honour the gathering that is organised by the Wives of the Governors of the South West. I thank them very much for working tirelessly in organising this event.
“As I stand before you here today, my heart goes to our sisters, daughters and grandmothers as well as to the women from the North East, particularly Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states who are, due to insecurity challenges, do not have the opportunity to gathers such crowd in their localities to educate women on the next election. I pray for peace in the North East”.
She opined further, “I am from the North East and I know what it is to wake up in the morning and see your daughter being taking away and your husband being slaughtered. It is a terrible thing! My heart goes to them”
“As you are aware, each region of this country has its own peculiar problem. My husband was in Lagos some days back. He had a town hall meeting with some professional women where he emphasised that domestic violence or violence against women in any form will not be accepted under his regime”.
“His regime will have zero tolerance to domestic violence against women. In that case, I want to assure you people; the beautiful women of the South West …
“When my husband was in Lagos during the primary elections, he told Nigerians that he has no money to buy them. And if at all he has, he can’t do that because Nigeria is not for sale. He believes in government of integrity, honesty and accountability”.
She said further “I am standing before you today, just like taking an oath: when you vote for General Muhammadu Buhari, he will protect women and children.
“Ministry of Women Affairs was introduced purposely for women and children. He will allow that particular ministry to carry out its mandate based on the principles that established that ministry and that says everything concerning the women and children”.
The rally also have in attendance the wife of the APC vice Presidential Candidate, Mrs Dolapo Oshinbajo, wives of APC Governors in the Southwest including Kwara, Imo, Rivers and the wife of former governor of Adamawa State.
