Bet practices taken to another Level in Nigeria

Director general of Nigeria National lottery commission Mr
Adolphus Ekpe, said they did not enact the law to regulate
gambling but lottery. He said lottery is a social acceptable form of game
and activities unlike gambling that is against our culture and
beliefs.

He stated this due to the growing trend of bet centers in Nigeria
especially among young people. He also said that the Commission has plans to
come up with a national gaming policy to help regulate the activities
of the bet centers in Nigeria including the casino.

Bet centers have become a lucrative business for some people. Every
corner of the streets is overcrowded with people trying to engage in
one bet or the other. Nobody is left out both the young and the old.

Recently an investigation done by the news agency of Nigeria (NAN)
revealed that over 60million Nigerians between 18 and 40 years spends
up to #1.8billion on sport betting every day.

According to Mr Ademola Adebajo the CEO of Stakerdon, the
business landscape has moved from trying to open a corner shop
somewhere and offer betting services to people to the fact that the business
is competing for a market share so as to be recognized.
