While battling alleged $3m scandal, Governor Yari says APC has hijacked EFCC

Embattled Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara state has cried out saying Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been hijacked.
The governor, who was recently accused of diverting the sum of $3 million from the Paris Club refund into the construction of a 100-room hotel in Lagos, said those who lost out in the last governorship election in Ondo state were behind his travails.
The governor who has now reacted, accused members of his own party, the APC, of hijacking the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
According to him, those who lost out in the election held in November 2016 were behind the alarm about the alleged missing fund.
He said those raising the alarm were not actually targeting him, but the anti-corruption crusade of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The governor recalled how the NGF clashed with former President Goodluck Jonathan during the last administration.
According to him, the governors who caused the rift between Jonathan and the NGF were those who went to the former president with information meant to cause problems simply because they wanted undue advantage.
“Some governors were going to tell the former president all sort of things, truth, lies and what have you, thereby making the former president angry with some other governors,” he reportedly said.
