‘Age, experience may no longer be conditions for employment’

The Senate on Tuesday proposed the removal of employment conditions such as age limits and professional experience usually set by employers, as part of measures to tackle unemployment.
The Senate also urged the Buhari administration to declare a state of emergency on unemployment.
The lawmakers also summoned the Minister of Labour, Employment and Productivity, Senator Chris Ngige, to tell Nigerians what the current administration is doing to address the problem.
They made the move during plenary after two motions bordering on employment were moved by Senator Duro Faseyi (Ekiti-North) and Senator Matthew Urhoghide (Edo-South).
