Access Bank donates N10m to UNICEF for Charity Shield Polo

Access Bank Plc, which is the sole sponsor of the prestigious Access Bank UNICEF Charity Shield international polo tournament, has donated the sum of N10 million to UNICE for the just concluded tournament.

The donation was presented at the Fifth Chukker Polo & Country Club in Kaduna by the Head, Corporate Communication, Access Bank, Olubusola Osilaja in support of UNICEF campaign against HIV/AIDS pandemic among Nigerian children.

Osilaja who led other top officials of Access Bank to the grand finale, expressed delight that the Access Bank UNICEF Charity Shield is achieving its main objective of reaching out to the less privileged children in the society.

Executive Director, Personal Banking, Access Bank, Victor Etuokwu had disclosed that the bank maintained its yearly donation of N10m in supporting UNICEF towards its Projects for orphans and vulnerable children. In addition to that, the Bank is continually seeking avenues through which more resources can be pooled towards supporting the children.

“We have been working in Kaduna, in collaboration with UNICEF and Fifth Chukker to elevate quality of lives. We need to do a lot more in support of these orphans and vulnerable children to enable them look forward to a better tomorrow,” Etuokwu added.

UNICEF Country Representative, Jean Gough who received the donation, commended Access Bank for the assistance, pointing out that through the donation, UNICEF would be able to provide care and support service to orphans and vulnerable children in focus areas of Kaduna State.

Proceeds and other donations during the international polo event which is in ninth year in partnership with Fifth Chukker Polo & Country Club, Kaduna, is channeled into Supporting UNICEF’s campaign against diseases especially HIV/AIDS among Nigerian Children.

The Cheque presentation which was witness by the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai was the major highlight of the closing ceremony after the final game of the event in which Access Bank Fifth Chukker defeated MRS 8-7, to win their fifth Charity Shield title.

The UNICEF Cup finale was witnessed by key Nigerian and international personalities that included the UNICEF Country Representatives to Nigeria, Jean Gough, Argentine Ambassador, Dzugala Gustavo, and British High Commissioner, Paul Arkwright as well as the envoys of Poland, Italy, Emirs of Zaria, Bauchi and Hadeija, among many others.
