Abia First Lady receives international humanitarian award

The Abia State First Lady, Mrs. Nkechi Okezie Ikpeazu, has received an international humanitarian service award, tagged, ‘Distinguished International Service Award’, from Rotary International, on Saturday, during a district event “Women In Rotary”, organised by Rotary District 9142, Nigeria. The Abia First Lady was at the event, where she received the award from the District Governor, District 9142, Dr. Dan Ajawara. The citation of the wife of the state governor read by Rotarian Mrs. Oby Nwankwu, stated a lot of things done by her, before her husband became the governor of the state and the numerous ones she has done since her husband became the governor of Abia state. The achievement tells much on her humanitarian services, which she has given to the people of Abia state. This include providing free food to pupils in primary schools from primary 1 to 6, provision of 125 wheelchairs to disabled persons, procurement of over 1000 sewing machines to tailors, etc. Reacting to the award given to her, Mrs. Ikpeazu, thanked Rotary International for recognising her with the international service award, as she promised to do more, since the reward for good work is more work. She also said she is a major donor in Rotary International and her husband, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu is a Paul Harris Fellow (PHF), Major Donor and a Rotarian.
