Abia Central assures Sen. Orji of 2019 ticket

The constituents of Abia Central Senatorial District of Abia State has assured the Senator representing them in the Senate, Theodore Ahamefule Orji of their support come 2019 general elections as the Senator commissions a solar-powered motorised borehole in Umundara Ahuwa Oboro in Ikwuano LGA of the state.
The occasion was a harvest of who is who in the senatorial district as the count includes political stakeholders from the zone, especially Ikwuano LGA, former commissioners, LGA chairmen, captains of industry, royal fathers and party functionaries at different levels.
Commissioning the borehole, Sen. Orji said that the project was for the health of the people of Umundara Ahuwa Oboro as clean water was one of the needs of the people.
The former governor of the state disclosed that studies show that millions of people do not have access to portable water, while about 30,000 children die annually because of water-related diseases, hence the choice to open a borehole for the people.
The Senator disclosed that he has scheduled more than 6 boreholes for his senatorial zone, stating that already he has delivered that of Umuahia South and then, Ikwuano, while soon, other LGAs in the zone will get theirs and expressed his desire to do more.
He described Ikwuano LGA as a special area to him, stating that he has not failed any election in the area.
According to him, himself in alliance with the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia at the House of Representatives, Hon. Sam Onuigbo, have been toiling over the welfare of Ikwuano people.
He pointed out that he has only been two years in office as the Senator representing them, stating that he has concluded plans to embark on electrification as his next project in the Senatorial zone.
He described the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the main party in the state and the country, stating that decampees have hidden agenda. The party, he said is being repositioned and will bounce back and urged party faithful to be steadfast.
Earlier in her speech, the Ikwuano LGA chairman, Hon Ngozi Orji thanked Sen. Orji for the gesture, especially in view of electricity problem in the area, stating that the Senator has given life to her people as water is life.
The Umundara Ahuwa Oboro community represented by the immediate past Commissioner for Industries, Henry Ikoh and the Chairman, Umundara Development Union, expressed their appreciation to the Senator, stating that the solar-powered borehole will solve the perennial water problem of the people of the area and described the Senator as “Giver of Life”.
Also speaking, the PDP LGA Woman Leader, Mrs. Ebere Okeiyi, thanked Sen. Orji for numerous projects he has done in the area in the past, which she said includes the palliative measure on the Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene federal road, empowerment of the indigent in the area, construction of auxiliary roads and building of houses for the less-privileged in the area, while the community youth leader, Prince Uche Egesie expressed the love of Ikwuano people for the senator “for what he has done and still doing” for his people, assuring him of their support come 2019 general election.
According to the LGA PDP Chairman, Deacon Obioma Igwe, the LGA has adopted the former governor for the 2019 general election and thanked him for what he has been doing for the LGA and describing him as “Grassroots Manager”, stating that PDP is the party to beat, come 2019 in the state.
Concluding, the former Minister of state (Defence), Rt. Col. Austin Akobundu prayed God over the Senator, stating that the Ikwuano people are strongly behind him.
According to him, “Sen. Orji remembered that Ikwuano had no hospital and he built a General Hospital in Ikwuano”, stating that the Senator has been adopted by the people for 2019.
It would be recalled that the former governor had, few weeks ago, built delivered and commissioned a motorized borehole for the people of Nsirimo, in Umuahia South LGA and has concluded plans to build more in the six LGAs of the Abia Central Senatorial Zone, namely Umuahia South, Umuahia North, Ikwuano, Isiala Ngwa North and South and Osisioma, otherwise known as “The Vote Basket Of Abia State”.
