The league of Amachara women ended their six months fasting and prayer for God to sustain the removal of their traditional ruler, Odo 1 of Umuokorodo Kingdom, Eze Iheuwa Akpunku, in Umuahia South Local Government Area, in Abia, at the weekend.
The Chairperson of Amachara Village Council, women wing, Ugwudiya Chidinma Chikezirim Madubuko said that the fasting and prayer which ended on Friday, September 2, 2016, was aimed at pleading with God to sustain the removal of Eze Akpunku by the court.
Madubuko said before the fasting and prayer many unwholesome things including shutting of Amachara Civic Hall, destructing of the Amachara youths destiny and initiation of people into secret societies had enveloped the community.
According to her, the unwholesome activities challenged the women to seek the intervention of God.
She said the prayer session started with a three-day fasting at the Amaukwu Amachara, and thereafter, continued every Saturday for six months. (Details in Daily Times)
