Two guards in police net for raping a 16-year-old girl

 

A 16-year-old girl (name withheld) is receiving treatment at the hospital in Lagos after three night guards abducted and gang-raped her all night in Ojo area of Lagos.

The incident happened on 20th February 2016 at Tedi town in the Ojo Local government Area of Lagos where the victim lives with her parents. The suspects were engaged as night guards in the same area.

The victim, a virgin was taken to General Hospital where she is now receiving treatment for the trauma and injuries she sustained in her body.
Following the dastardly act, the police in Ojo division went after the culprits and two out of three suspects were arrested and arraigned before the Ojo Magistrates court. They were charged with conspiracy and having unlawful carnal knowledge of the victim.
The two suspects are Ugo Onuora and Bright Anaenyewu; the third suspect is still at large.

The victim’s ordeal started after she took a commercial motorcycle popularly known as Okada on her way back to their house about 9 pm.

The suspects who had resumed work on that day allegedly flagged down and discharged the Okada rider, and ordered the victim to their post and forcefully raped her at gun point.

It was gathered that they warned her to cooperate with them otherwise they would kill bury her without anybody knowing what happened.
The victim complied out of fear and they raped her in turns to the early morning when they allowed her to go.

When the victim returned to her home, her parents and their neighbours who were already searching for her saw her bleeding. She narrated her ordeal and the matter was reported to the police who took her to hospital and went after the suspects.

The suspects, Onuora and Anaenyewu pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The presiding Magistrate, Mr A.A Paul, granted the suspects bail in the sum of N200,000 each with two sureties in like sum.
The court also ordered that the sureties must show evidence of tax payments and pay N100,000 to the Chief Registrars account, pending the determination of the case.
The suspects were remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.

The case was adjourned till 26 April 2016.
