MTN drives Africa’s digital transformation with 5G, fintech innovation

MTN Nigeria reaffirmed its leadership in Africa’s digital revolution at the Omniverse Summit 2025, where it showcased groundbreaking advancements in 5G technology, fintech, and digital connectivity.
Themed, “Unified by Vision & Empowered by Collaboration,” the summit highlighted MTN’s role in unlocking Africa’s digital wealth through next-generation infrastructure and financial inclusion.
A key focus was MTN’s 5G expansion, which is rapidly transforming connectivity across major cities. With ultra-fast speeds, low latency, and seamless broadband solutions, MTN’s 5G network is enabling remote work, e-commerce, and digital content creation, empowering businesses and individuals alike.
The company also spotlighted its MoMo PSB platform, which bridges Africa’s financial inclusion gap by offering mobile payments, micro-loans, and savings tools to millions of unbanked and underbanked citizens. Additionally, MTN unveiled the Global Duka Gift Card Service, integrated into the MoMo PSB Super App in partnership with Sochitel Group.

This innovation allows Nigerians to purchase and redeem gift cards for digital services without the need for traditional bank cards, enhancing accessibility and cross-border transactions.
