Mixed reactions as Tinubu rolls out more appointments

As part of efforts to prioritise effective and efficient working synergy between the Presidency and Federal Ministries, President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointments of aides who would be coordinating the Federal Ministries.

In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the appointees are professionals who have prior working experience within the architecture of the Federal Ministries they will be coordinating with, in addition to duties that will be carried out at the President’s discretion.

The appointees include; Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy — Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation — Ms. Delu Bulus Yakubu.

In another hand, President Bola Tinubu has also approved the appointment of new Chief Executive Officers of several agencies and parastatals under the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.

The appointment, according to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, is in line with the President’s resolve to base Nigeria’s economic revival on the foundation of trade expansion through small, medium and large scale industry facilitation in the country.

The appointees include: the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) — Hussaini Magaji, Industrial Training Fund (ITF) — Afiz Oluwatoyin, National Sugar Development Council (NSDC) — Kamar Bakrin, Nigeria Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA) — Olufemi Ogunyemi, Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) — Nonye Ayeni.

Others includes: Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) — Aisha Rimi, Oil and Gas Free Zone Authority (OGFZA) — Bamanga Jada, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) — Charles Odii, Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) — Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN) — Rabiu Olowo, Nigeria Commodities Exchange (NCE) — Anthony Atuche, Lagos International Trade Fair Complex (LITFCMB) — Veronica Ndanusa, Tafawa Balewa Square Management Board (TBSMB) — Lucia Shittu, National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) — Oluwemimo Osanipin.

“In view of the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration, President Bola Tinubu expects all new appointees in this critical sector to optimally deliver in accordance with new key performance indicating benchmarks as established by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.

“By this directive of the President, all of the above listed appointments take immediate effect.”

…New board, management for FERMA

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of the Governing Board and Management team of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) for a renewable term of four (4) years.

In a statement issued yesterday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the appointment is in accordance with Section 2(3) of the FERMA Amendment Act, 2007.

“Member (Finance) — Babatunde Daramola-Oniru, Member (South-South) — Hon. Preye Oseke, Member (South-West) — Hon. Oye Ojobe, Member (South-East) — Dr. Kenneth Ugbala, Member (North-Central) — Sen. Timothy Adudu, Member (North-East) — Engr. Abubakar Bappa, Member (North-West) — Aminu Adamu Papa.

“President Tinubu expects the new appointees to achieve integrous and competent service delivery, given the central role that the institution will play in the sustainable health of growth-enabling infrastructure nationwide.” The statement reads in parts.
