Bello’s antagonist dumps PDP for APC in Kogi

A strong antagonist of the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello and the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ambassador Friday Makama, has joined the governor in the APC after decamping from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday.

The two-time member of the Kogi State House of Assembly who represented Igalamela Odolu state constituency declared his defection into the APC shortly after meeting with the leadership of the party at the APC national secretariat, Abuja.

Ambassador Makami who was said to have faced series of political persecution as PDP member in the state, said he has put his gory experience as member of opposition in Kogi behind him and ready to team up with Governor Bello and other stakeholders to further develop the state.

He said he deliberately did the declaration in Abuja in honour of the national leadership of the party that broker truce between him and the governor .

The politician who could not give any tangible reason for decamping said he wanted to be in the mainstream of Kogi politics to enable him get dividends of governance for people in his constituent.

He said “I was still the member of the PDP up till two hours ago when the membership card of the PDP was actually torn and I actually change my party to the all Progressive Congress (APC) and I didn’t do this alone I did this in full consultation with my people. I have a very large followership.

“The discussion for my decamping that took place today started two to three weeks ago and ever since then I was consulting with my people and today history is made as I decided to change my political party to the All Progressive Congress

“My reasons are very obvious I’m a believer of developments, I am a believer of safety of my people and that is why I have been able to check the variables, the options that are available politically right now and I decided that the best option for me in the circumstance that I find myself and to be able to stand for my people is the All Progressive Congress and I’ve so changed my political party.

“On why I left the PDP. I said owing to the prevailing circumstances the situation on ground politically. Today as a politician you will always choose options variables and alternatives that are available for you to be able to chart your course and that’s the course of your people. The only option now in the circumstance I have found myself is All Progressive Congress and I’ve decided to join it”.

Speaking on how to manage a new relationship with governor Yahaya Bello, the former lawmaker said “I had it very rough with my governor in the past and the intervention of the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress has cemented a new relationship between myself and the governor as I speak to you now we are now brothers.

“But I cannot assure that with the current intermediary role by the National Chairman of APC I am very sure that rough road will not come between me and him anymore”
