Man docked for alleged theft of N55,000 phone

An 18-year-old boy, Promise Osakwe, was on Tuesday arraigned at an Asaba Magistrates’ Court, for alleged theft of a phone worth N55,000.
The Prosecutor, Mrs Blessing Okafor, told the court that the accused stole the phone belonging to Mrs Helen John on Feb. 12, at Kowean Plaza, Nnebisi Road, Asaba.

Okafor said that the offence was punishable under Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Laws of Delta, 2006.
The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs Edith Anumodu, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

Anumodu ordered that the surety must be a civil servant on salary grade level 09 and reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
She also ordered that the surety must provide an affidavit of means as well as two passport photographs.
The Magistrate adjourned the case until Feb. 25, for hearing.
