FCT minister warns agencies against rejecting corps members

The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Muhammad Bello has urged all government agencies and other employers within the territory to accept corps members posted to their organizations and to create an enabling environment for them to contribute meaningfully during their primary assignment.

Bello made this known at the closing ceremony of the orientation course for the 2019 batch ‘A’ corps members yesterday, at the NYSC FCT Permanent Orientation Camp, Kubwa.

The minister who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mohammed Bashir Mai-Borno, reiterated that the FCT administration on its part will provide the opportunities for corps members to participate and contribute in the administration’s programmes spread across the area councils.

“As you proceed to the next stage of the programme for your primary assignment and community development across the FCT, I enjoin you to accept your postings in good faith and be worthy ambassadors of the scheme by being committed to your work and contribute positively to your respective host communities,” he stated.

Similarly, the FCT NYSC coordinator, Bello Ballama instructed the corps members to be pungent and avert every ignominy associated with everyday life wherever they are posted.

“Bear in mind, that your responses, special contributions and resourcefulness during the service year is actually what stands you out for recognition, honour and award at the end of the service year,” he advised.

Ballama also hinted that the federal government is expecting corps members to be involved in the fight against corruption, fake news and hate speech, adding that “I urge you to be a dependable vanguard to bring about the needed change in the system.

“You must be disciplined in all your dealings with your host communities in order to impact positively on the lives of the FCT youth who would be looking up to you for credible guidance.”
