Police arrest 3 foreigners, 2 Nigerians for Trans-Boarder robbery

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Special Intelligence Response Team has arrested a five man trans-boarder armed robbery gang who disguise as commercial motorcyclists to snatch exotic cars in Nigeria and sell them in Benin Republic.

It was gathered that three of the suspects were from Benin Republic while the other two were Nigerians.

The suspects identified as Femi Adegbile, John Ajayi, Ajayi kamoru, Emil Goduo and Saheed Shosanya were arrested on Saturday.

They were arrested in possession of an AK47 Rifle which they use in carrying out their operation.

According to the Police, the arrest of the suspects followed complaints about the activities of the trans-border robbers and subsequent directive from IGP Ibrahim Idris to arrest the gang members.

The Police High command said, “Following several complaints of car snatching within Lagos and Ogun boarders shared with Benin Republic and subsequent directives from IGP Idris, Special IRT teams were deployed to the boarder to bring the armed robbers to Justice.

“After 2 weeks of unrelenting follow up, the notorious car robbers operating on bike in absolute disguise were arrested by IRT operatives at the border.”

The police further revealed that the suspects hid the rifle under the seat of their operational motorcycle.

“A blue motorcycle with their operational Ak47 rifle hidden under the Seat was recovered together with the Ak47 rifle and two magazines fully loaded with 60 rounds of live ammunitions.

“Suspects confessed to multiple car snatchings and many armed robberies along the Nigeria/Benin boarder while disguising as normal Okada riders,” the police revealed.

It was also learnt that serious efforts to arrest the remaining gang members is in progress.
