Obiano has no pact with Buhari, says APGA chair

The National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Oye, has denied that Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has a pact with President Muhammadu Buhari to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) after the Anambra State Governorship election held on November 18, 2017.

Oye in an interaction with newsmen in his country home at Amawbia, said it was true that some people persuaded Governor Obiano to leave APGA for APC before the election but he stoutly resisted it.

He said what people don’t know is that Obiano is a man of character who would not just change political party like women change wrapper, saying that APGA as a political party with deep ideology does not have any pact with anybody.

The National Chairman dismissed Martin Agbaso as a personal non-grata, and meddlesomeness, an unknown person in APGA because he is not a member of the party.
Oye said Agbaso had left APGA for PDP for a long time now and there was no evidence that he has returned as his name was not in APGA register in Emekuku ward in Imo State.

He stressed that they have no business with Agbaso as he did not at any time contest for the National Chairmanship of the party, adding that there are at least nine perpetual injunction on him.

Oye said APGA as a party has clear ideology, which helps its governors to perform.Peter Obi lost that vision immediately he left APGA. He want into PDP and broke it into pieces. He broke the party into eight different factions within the state.

In this election, other parties were giving the people money to vote for them but APGA gave them more than money: quality services, good governance, security and others,” Oye said.

The APGA chairman said history beckons on the party in 2019, predicting that they would win eight states with one already down, insisting that the party would win Abia, Imo, Delta, Enugu, Ebonyi, Nasarawa states among others.

He said with the victory in the just concluded governorship election in Anambra State, APGA has created template for other political parties as there was no crisis during the election.

The election went smoothly, free and fair. Everybody agreed that the result set a record. Some did not give us a chance. Some said APGA will die. We are not pompous in victory. It is victory for everybody. We are not looking down on them. The losers are our brothers. We are magnanimous in victory. It is the victory of light over darkness, courage over cowardice, good over evil,” said Chief Oye.

He lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security outfits for doing their work well including the media which culminated in the free and fair result that emerged even as he dedicated the victory to God.

Oye said the people of Anambra State were enthusiastic to vote APGA and in doing that they conducted themselves peacefully.

They sowed peace and reaped peace. Obiano is a peaceful man, focused, visionary, pragmatic and our people believed in us that we are credible, worthy which translated to Obiano’s victory,” he said.

He said the leadership of the party created on atmosphere for victory because there was peace and they were united, hence nobody could penetrate them.

Oye said the Anambra people voted performance, which was provided by Obiano himself such as the Agulu hotel which was abandoned 40 percent by Obi but the remaining 60 percent completed by Obiano.
