20th Ofalla festival anniversary : Gov Ishaku solicits Igbos’ support for re-election

Taraba State Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku has solicited support from the Igbo sons and daughters in the State for his re-election bid come 2019.
Governor Darius Ishaku made the appeal yesterday while speaking as a Special Guest of Honour on the occasion of 20th Anniversary of Ofalla Festival of His Royal Highness, Igwe Wilfred Ibe, Eze Igbo 1 of Taraba State and the 2018 Igbo Day Celebration held at the Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo.
Represented by the State Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Atosuma James Gani, Ishaku commended the Igbos for contributing towards the development of Taraba in various aspects of life.
While appreciating the efforts of Igbos and other non indigenes that led to his emergence as the State Governor, he further vowed to declare all the vacancies and positions to the Igbos if supported in 2019.
On the issue of insecurity in some parts of the State, Ishaku maintained that his administration in collaboration with the Security Agencies have reduced insecurity to its barest minimum which according to him have enabled all residents go about their businesses without hindrances and being challenged.
In his remarks, Eze Igbo 1 of Taraba State, HRH, Igwe Wilfred Ibe thanked the Governor for always identifying with the Igbos and other tribes resident in the State.
The Royal Father opined that non indigenes, in the State especially, Igbos would continue to support the programmes and Policies of the present administration to improve the living standard of the people.
The Eze Igbo 1 of Taraba State also commended Governor Ishaku in his efforts towards sustaining peaceful atmosphere among all tribes since he assumed office in 2015.
In his remarks, the President General, Igbo Community Association (ICA), Chief Okwuchi Nwanosike described the two events merged together as timely saying they were opportune to ‘witness another life celebration of Igwe Wilfred Ibe since his coronation in 1998 and last Igbo Day in 2009 respectively.
“The Igbo Community Association (ICA) was founded in 1970 with the objective to improve the general welfare of Igbos in Taraba State and Nigeria where and when necessary and to encourage peaceful coexistence amongst members and communities in Taraba State”, said Eze Afojuru as he was popularly called.
