2019: Plateau APC yet to endorse Lalong as guber candidate – party chair

The Plateau State chapter of the All Progressive Congress, (APC), is yet to endorse Governor Simon Lalong as its gubernatorial candidate in the 2019 governorship election, says the state party chairman, Hon. Letep Dabang.

The party State chairman stated this at the weekend in Jos, while addressing newsmen on the 2017 state affairs of the party.
Dabang said: “The party stakeholders are yet to meet to decide the endorsement of Governor Lalong as the sole candidate of our party in the coming 2019 governorship election: but it is obvious that we might unanimously endorse him to run again as governor because of his land mark achievement.

“Plateau people have been keeping track with his progress and so far the governor has been working in accordance with the party manifesto.

“Our national and state assembly members as well as stakeholders of the party I am sure will very soon take a positive stand in favour of governor I can assure you.

“Our resolutions will be based on the wonderful performance by the governor in all sectors of lives so far” the APC chairman said.
Speaking on the challenges confronting the party in preparing for the forthcoming local government polls, the party chairman noted that the APC has received 74 petitions from 325 councillorship primaries conducted.

He said the party has set up a committee to look into the agitations and address them accordingly.

Mr. Dabang, however, said unity of the party in the state was intact despite alleged accusation and counter accusations from party members emanating from the just concluded councillorship election primaries.
