15 Arrested As Police Raid Night Club For LGBTQ Members, Others Flee
No fewer than 15 LGBTQ members were arrested at a popular night club in Surulere axis of Lagos State on December 24th 2024 when operatives of the Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Police raided some black spots across the state.
The operatives of the Command, according to information made available, were acting on an intelligence report on the clandestine operations of certain individuals with seriously disturbing sexual orientation aligning towards same-sex practice at the club.
It was gathered that the operatives of the Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Police stormed the popular nightclub (name withheld) at about 10:55pm and made several arrest as 15 LGBTQ members were later reported to have been arrested.
Confrmed report however revealed that some members of the LGBTQ community who attended the night party reportedly fled through an exit back-end door immediately the operatives of the Nigerian Police stormed the nightclub.
Meanwhile, the Command in a statement made available to journalists in Lagos State disclosed that 15 LGBTQ members were arrested during a midnight raid of dark spots across the state.

The statement further added that during interrogation, one of the members confessed made confesssional statement that on September 18th 2024 in a remote community in Lagos State he was caught in the sacrilegious act with his long-time partner but they were however rescued from a crowd of angry mob by the chairman of the community.
Another gay suspect simply identified as Jerry, under interrogation, said he fled to Lagos State after escaping arrest in 202 in Edo State when he was caught in the act with another male partner.
The arrested gay suspects further added that his long-time lover however managed to escape from the night club during the midnight raid by the operatives of the Nigerian Police.
Meanwhile, the police in the statement further stated that investigation into the secret activities of the LGBTQ members at the nightclub was still ongoing adding that other members of the arrested LGBTQ group made useful confessional statements implicating other fleeing members.
The Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Police in the statement further said that the following persons have been declared wanted for gross violation of the Same-sex Marriage Prohibition Act of 2013, they are Adams Jerome, Bernerd Andrew, Kunle Ajayi, Peter Edobor, and Selesi Simeon Funmilola amongst others
It added that immediately investigation was concluded, all the arrested 15 suspects involved would be charged to court for gross violation of the Same-sex Marriage Prohibition Act of 2013.
