The Joint Security Task Force in Anambra State has taken the fight against crime and other forms of criminality to the door steps and hideouts of drug traffickers and hoodlums in the state.

In a renewed zeal, the team made up of the police, army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), DSS and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Monday  raided motor parks, slums and markets in Ogidi, Nkpor, Okpoko, Obosi and Onitsha where some suspected criminals were arrested for different alleged offences.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the raid in Awka, the Commissioner of Police in the State and leader of the Joint security task force, Mr. Sam Okaula, said the essence of the onslaught was to ensure that the state was safe and free of criminal elements, especially within these ember months.

Mr. Okaula who noted that security check would be conducted daily in all the identified  flashpoints as well as other parts of the state simultaneously, warned those engaging in criminal activities to leave the state or risk being apprehended.

The joint security task force was set up by the Anambra State Government in 2014 to help address security challenges in the area.
