Yessiey Awards: The glitziest night in the personality calendar award is finally here
The night will see a lot of heavyweight nominees do battle at what is considered the pinnacle of awards season.
With the organizers opting to have the maximum possible number of nominees in this category at 11, it’s unsurprisingly absolutely stacked.
Following on from recent successes, many may assume that Elena Maroulleti, Mabel Oboh, Yemisi Shyllon are the ones to beat, but anything could happen.
However, there’s also some fresh blood in the category with Dekunle Okunrinboye, Ujawal Jha, Dinah Lugard.
About the Event
The annual Yessiey Awards will take place on the 23rd of October in Victoria Island, Lagos where the best individual and brightest of the previous 12 months will be recognized at the red carpet ceremony.
Everything Everywhere All At Once, the multiverse Personality events, is at the top of the list, followed by 11 other categories with multiple nominations each, including Yessiey Men and Women of the year, Media personality of the year, Art Personality etc.
The personality categories are also exciting, with the number of Foreign nominees at the ceremony ; At an all-time high thanks to nominations for Male and Female personality of the year.
But while “Yessiey” is the popular nickname for the award, which is officially known as the Yessiey Award, from where did that more casual name originate? Here is everything you need to know.
Why is it called YESSIEY?
The name Yessiey was coined from the slogan which states “YES! Stay Informed”, YESSIEY is an inspiring and informative platform founded on the 20th of August 2022 as www.yessiey.com A platform to Discover, Promote and recognize personalities around the globes.
Shortly after it was established in 2022, different department of endeavor hosted a dinner in Lagos to outline its goals.
One of the topics discussed that evening was how to best recognize exceptional achievements and promote excellence in all areas of individual endeavor. After deciding to launch an annual award, the group concentrated on creating a suitable award design.
Yessiey Event director Oluwaseun Olaegbe created the precious awards design. The different department present agreed to hire a designer to achieve the exact image chosen.
Writers, Actor/Actress, Humanitarian, Art, Entrepreneur, Journalism are the six founding branches of Yessiey Awards.
