We went into robbery because we needed money for graduation

Two suspected cultists, Tobi Micheal and Adigun Gbolahun have expressed regret over their alleged involvement in,cult activities and several robbery incidents within Lagos.
The suspects who were arrested by men of the anti – robbery unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department of the Lagos State Police Command claimed it was money to fund their graduation ceremony and small business after learning various crafts that led them into robbery.
Investigations revealed that the suspects were responsible for a robbery incident where a father of three was murdered in the Ayobo area of the state. They were however arrested in Ijanikin when the police rounded them up.
They also confessed to have robbed over 20 times but never got enough as the urge to rob kept them desiring for more.
Micheal who is 24 years old said he had trained as a furniture maker tells how he joined the men of the underworld.
He said, ” I became a rob by chance. In 2016, after I had completed my apprenticeship as a furniture maker, I needed money to officially graduate. Money was not available. So my friends at Alaba Rago told me there was a way out . They advised me to join them in robbing. I gave it a try and it was favourable. I then continued and went on and on.
” for every operation, I get as high as N50,000 but unfortunately I never invested the money as I spent it on prostitutes and drinks. Also the gun I used in robbing, I bought it from Alaba at the rate of N15,000.”
The Osun born speaks on how they killed their victims at Ayobo. He sad, ” the Ayobo robbery is one I still regret till date. It was around August when one Chinedu had given us information about his co-tenant whom he said was very rich.
“When we stormed the house, and tried to cart away some of their belongings, the man somehow brought out a cutlass and unknown to me he hit the cutlass on my head. I was bleeding and out of anger, I shot at him with my gun.
On how he was arrested, he said it was while he was having a nice time with his friends at Alaba Rago that the police stormed the place and caught him. “It was one Bigi, a member of my gang that led the police to my hideout where they arrested me.”
Similarly, Gbolahun who is a trained tailor said two of his previous gang members are currently serving at the kirikiri maximum prison while one other had retired to his village.
He stated that he and Micheal belong to the same cult group.
The Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi who paraded the suspects said they will be charged to court once investigations are completed.
