We’ll fulfil our campaign promises – Amosun

Ahead of the forthcoming elections in Ogun State, Governor Ibikunle Amosun has reassured the people of the state that he would not fail in fulfilling all his electioneering campaign promises aimed at re-building the state and bringing development to the State.

He also added that his administration would continue to pursue its five-cardinal programmes with all seriousness which to him would in return give a new lease of life to the people of the State.

Amosun who spoke at Ijebu-Ode in Ijebu-Ode local council while on a campaign tour to the three Senatorial Districts of the state for the forthcoming Chairmanship and Councillorship elections in all the Local councils and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) reiterated that the All Progressive Congress (APC) as a party, would not fail on his promises to the people.

He explained that the reasons for the creation of the new additional 37 LCDAs was to complement the existing 20 council areas and to bring  development and government closer to the people at the grassroots.

The Governor who had earlier visited the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona. urged the people of the state to vote for APC candidates during the coming elections, saying that the candidates were ready to work for the people.

While speaking at Sagamu in Sagamu Local Council, Amosun disclosed  that the Federal government had sent a delegation from the Ministry of Works to assess the Sagamu, Ogijo road and it would soon award the contract to contractor.

He explained that the road was important to the Federal government because Nigeria National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC) has depot at Wasinmi located in  the axis.

The Governor disclosed that the road would be repaired with concrete.

“The creation of LCDAs will bring proximity of government to the grassroot people and it will also bring more employment opportunities, progress and development. I am aware of all the challenges we are facing and  we have been taken care of it but we know it’s not enough, we will continue to do the best “he said.

He urged the people of the state to vote for APC candidates during the coming elections, saying that the candidates were ready to work for the people.

“Come out on Saturday and vote, it is when our party is in office that all these things can be put in place. On our road, we have not done the final asphalt, there is still one more layer that we are going to put and we will do that soon

At Ilaro in Yewa South local council of the State, the Governor said the exercise was the most important election, saying “This is the election that concerns you most because the government is closer to you”.

He appealed to the people to freely exercise their constitutional franchise by electing the candidate of their choice.

“This is the most important election because this the election that concern the people because it is closer to the people at the grassroot. The government will bring development, harmony and unity to us”.

The Governor pleaded with the people of the state to be patient with the government and continue to support his administration.

He urged the people to shun any form of violence that would disrupt the conduct of the election, saying “We are one Ogun State”.

Amosun was accompanied by his Deputy, Mrs. Yetunde Onanuga, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Suraj Adekunbi, and other top government functionaries as well as politicians in the State.

The train tour also moved to Sango-Ota, Ifo and Abeokuta, the State capital.
