We have reduced cattle rustling in Plateau, says task force

The special task force, otherwise known as Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) has confirmed that cattle rustling activities in the state has drastically reduced.
Commander of the Taskforce, Maj. Gen.Augustine Agundu said that that the activities of cattle rustlers were caged by the efforts of his men whom he strategically positioned in most of the troubled communities.
Speaking to newsmen at a Medical Outreach, Feeding and Donation of Relief Materials to Gyambwas community in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau state, the army general said since the establishment of the forward operation base in Gyambwas, there has been relatively peace amongst the people.
Represented by the Chief of Staff of the task force, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Bello, Agundu explained that the heightened cattle rustling which was a major threat between Mangu and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas has been put to rest.
“It might interest you to know that from September to date, there has been no cattle rustling activities since the establishment of the forward base in this area.
The reason for its establishment was to arrest any form of criminality and form a blocking force to cattle thieves,” he said.
The general stated that the reason Gyambwas community was selected for the medical outreach and donation of relief materials was to reward them for their corporation with the task force by giving out timely information that always led to the arrest of criminals and seizure of weapons.
