WARNING! Don’t Go Near Ikorodu Without Your ID Card

The Police in Lagos has asked members of the public especially residents in Ikorodu and environs to be guided in their movement in and around Ikorodu area of the state.

The Spokesperson for Lagos State Police Command, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, made this warning and he means every word of it.

It is no more news that criminal cult group, Badoo, has perpetrated a lot of atrocities and security has been on red alert in recent days.

Now the Police says “henceforth everybody moving around that part of the state, residents, students or workers should always have on them a valid form of identification.

“This has become important and necessary because of the series of police operations lined up in the area by the Lagos state police command led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations.

“The planned police operations demand residents to carry on them a valid form of identification which will be verified, in order not to be restricted or face apprehension as adequate security arrangements have been put in place for the safety of every Nigerian throughout the state by the police and other security agencies.”

This order takes immediate effect from Tuesday, July 4, 2017 but really any wise citizen should have been doing this without being told.

You are not only at risk of being wrongfully apprehended by the police but at a worse risk of being mistaken for Badoo cultist by residents of the town and with these angry people, there is no second chance, it is jungle justice – death.

Although there are hopes that the collaboration between police and vigilante group OPC will greatly help, it is wiser to avoid unnecessary outings in Ikorodu now because the situation is still tensed.

The Lagos state police command says it is deeply concerned about the criminal activities in the area which is not only unlawful but also affecting the integrity of the state.
