Two- day Economic summit in Imo

 

A two-day Economic Summit tagged “Mobilising Domestic Resources for Sustainable Development”, is to be held in Owerri, the Imo State capital from June 24 to 25, 2016.

The summit is to bring together people of good faith from the state to take stock of the success and failures in the last 40 years, since the creation of the state, in order to learn from the past mistakes and celebrate its achievements.

Speaking to journalists in Owerri, on Tuesday, the chairman of Centre for the Study of Development Economics, Dr. Eze Osuagwu, and organisers of the summit, said that the programme was designed to brainstorm and articulate development policies for the prosperity of the state.

Osuagwu also said that the summit was tailored towards creating sustainable economic base for the state in order to eliminate poverty among the people by the year 2030 as envisioned by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (2016-2030).

Osuagwu said that he summit will enable participants to brainstorm on the possible ways to design and implement policies that will mobilise domestic resources to drive the economy of the state towards sustainable development.
