Two brothers declared wanted over IPOB activities

Two brothers, Paul Oli and Peter Oli have been declared wanted over their involvement in the activities of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
The Federal Government of Nigeria had proscribed the IPOB as a terrorist organization, but the group had continued with its activities, insisting that it was merely agitating for freedom and independence of its people.
The two brothers are from Agulu in Anambra State, Nigeria.
Paul, was earlier arrested by the police but he escaped from detention.
It was gathered that Paul, a taxi driver, was first arrested when he was conveying members of the IPOB to Orlu, in Imo State.
A security source hinted that “He left Port-Harcourt with members of the IPOB; they were heading for Orlu, where so many atrocities have been committed against security agencies and the Nigerian State.
“However, they were rounded up by security operatives who were on alert.”
Meanwhile, a member of the Oli family said his brother was severely tortured by the security agencies.
He claimed that “they took them to an unknown destination where they inserted sticks of broom inside his penis.
“They tied his two hands and two legs and kept heavy stones on his back. We leant that some people among them died in the process of the torture because of injury they sustained.
“They forced them to confess when and where they hold IPOB meetings but Paul continued telling them that he is not a member of IPOB, that he is just a taxi driver.”
It was gathered that the suspects were later taken to the Owerri Correctional Centre in Imo State capital.
However, following the attack on the facility, all the detainees, including Paul escaped and have been declared wanted ever since.
An attempt to re-arrest him has been made by the police, who visited the brother’s house in Enugu, in the GRA area of the State.
“They arrested Peter in the process, despite the fact that he told them he doesn’t know his brother’s whereabouts. As we speak now, we don’t know where he is.
“We thought he was in detention but we were surprised to hear in the news that he has also been declared wanted by the security agencies,” the village source hinted.
