Cemal Yigit, spokesman of the school, confirmed the release of the students, saying they had reunited with their parents and family members.
“we wish to inform the general public that the kidnapped students and staff of the Nigerian Tulip International Colleges (NTIC) Ogun state, have regained freedom,” he said in a statement.
“The victims were released after a painstaking collaborative effort by the relevant security agencies in the country. The management of NTIC wishes to express our gratitude to the relevant security agencies for their efforts in securing the release of the three students, one Turkish teacher, a cook and three supervisors.”
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2, Kayode Aderanti made the disclosure about the arrest while briefing journalists on the efforts of the zone to get the kidnappers.
According to Aderanti, the police would make some shocking revelations in a couple of days, which he believed would contain kidnapping activities in Lagos and Ogun state.
The AIG also denied knowledge of the payment of N50 million ransoms, insisting that the kidnappers succumbed to superior pressure from the police as they even run out of food in the creek.
Aderanti said, the kidnappers gave up after they realised that their identities were known by policemen, adding that some of the kidnapper’s relatives were held to pressure them into releasing the victims. Although he declined to give further details on the arrest.
He said: “The victims’ were taken to a hospital in Ikeja immediately they were release to ascertain their health condition.”
