Why traders voted Obiano for second tenure – Ogbaru market leader

The chairman of Ogbaru Main Market in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Victor Nwawuzie, has said the traders in Anambra State voted massively for Governor Willie Obiano’s second term because of a lot of his achievements which have direct and positive impact on them.
Chief Nwawuzie said one of those things was the prompt payment of salaries and pensions to the workers and pensioners of the state, arguing that what sustained various markets in the state was because when Governor paid workers, they came to the market to buy from them.
He said in some states in the country their markets have collapsed and the traders were living in abject poverty because their Governors refused to pay salary.
Akrika Ukpor, as he is fondly called, said that Governor Obiano’s security programme which brought to an end kidnapping and violent robbery endeared him to the traders because neither the traders themselves nor their supporters were being attacked again, hence their confidence improved and businesses boomed.
The Ogbaru market leader said what again helped Obiano to win was that he brought knowledgeable, good and honest people around him and one of such people was the President-General of Anambra markets, Chief Okwudili Ezenwankwo, who advised the Governor what he would do for the traders.
He said Obiano did what he was advised by building N10 million projects in each of the markets in the state, which no government has ever done.
He said the re-election of Obiano was a clear and loud message to the politicians in the State that Anambra people do not want god-fatherism in the politics of the state.
Nwawuzie advised Governor Obiano to go out there and construct roads and provide electricity in every nooks and crannies of the state, since the people want what they can see.
He also asked Obiano to as usual remember traders by ensuring tighter security network in the state and build more projects in the markets.
The market leader dismissed likely outbreak of any crisis within Obiano’s Government arising from the prominent people who backed him during the last election, saying, “I don’t think there will be crisis. We are all Igbos. We love APGA. Whoever supported Obiano did that out of his/her volition”.
He said after Obiano, the slot will move to the Anambra South Senatorial zone and he was sure that APGA will again win because no other party can take over Anambra State. Nwawuzie called on the traders in the state to throw their support behind Obiano in this second tenure, assuring the 17,000 traders in Ogbaru Main Market would continue to be behind the Governor.
He also urged the people of the state to support the Governor for him to realise his ambition of making Anambra State great by the time he will complete his second tenure.
