Trader docked over alleged cheating

The Police on Monday, arraigned a 52-year-old trader, Rebecca Enter, at a Grade I Area Court in Kubwa, Abuja, for alleged cheating.
Enter of Karasana village, Abuja is charged with criminal breach of trust and cheating.
Prosecution counsel, Babajide Olanipekun told the court that one Mrs David Kafanchan reported the case at Divisional Police Headquartres, Gwagwa, Abuja on Dec. 20, 2019.
Olanipekun said the complainant entrusted N1.2 million to the defendant to disburse as loan to applicants in need, sometime in September, 2019.
He alleged that the defendant converted N800,000 out of the money for her personal use without the complainant’s consent.

The prosecution counsel said that the offence contravened Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against her.
The Judge, Mr Muhammad Adamu, admitted her to N2 million bail with one surety who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
He adjourned the case till April 21 for hearing.
